Most animal shelters in Southern California are "kill"
shelters, meaning
dogs are available for adoption for a few days before they are put to
death.
It's not cruelty that motivates shelters--it is space. There are so
many
kennels for strays and too many dogs needing those spaces. We ask
that you please check out the malamutes in shelters and give them priority
over purchasing a malamute or even taking one of our rescues.

URGENT! IMMEDIATE ATTENTION NEEDED!
DANGER FOR THESE TWO!!!

Both
of the above dogs are currently in need of URGENT rescue. We believe
that they are Brother
and Sister and very young at about 2 years old. They were adopted
from a shelter, somewhere, but
the new owner decided that they didn't have time for them, then
discarded them at this shelter.
Because they both are so sweet, they have completely won over the
shelter staff, as you can tell by
what they have written about them but they are available NOW and on
very borrowed time. If you
have been thinking about adopting an Alaskan Malamute, please consider
these dogs first. They
really are too sweet to die at such a young age.

of dogs in the pound. We are volunteers, we are not at South LA, and
South LA does not have email—-please call
or visit South LA! Please make sure they put your name and phone
number on the dog you want to adopt, in their computer.
The following is what the shelter volunteers had to say about these
two lovely dogs:
Notes:
Very URGENT!
This is a magnificent, huge young boy! He seems to be a pure Malamute,
with classic
luscious licorice and cream coloring, exquisite markings, a
spectacular healthy coat, and this boy is cuddly as
can be, a great big poofy angel to snuggle with. He's listed as 2
years old, but could be even younger, just a babe,
and much too young to die! He is so gentle and loving, a gentle giant,
and fabulous pet! And he's already neutered
so he can go right home with you. Take this darling boy home, save his
life, PLEASE!!! Look at the heartbreak and
fear on this adorable boy's face as he's facing death in the pound.
His name is "Taz", and he was adopted from
South LA pound a while back, but now his uncaring owners have dumped
him into the pound, despite his having
been such a good pet. He doesn't deserve this! He takes such good care
of his little sister, A573713, who was also dumped into the pound with
him. Yet he looks so hopefully at you--he will be such a good pet, all
he wants is to
please you, will you please save his life? This poor angel is nothing
but kindness and love, even though humans
have betrayed him, and now he has almost
no hope of getting out of the pound alive, unless you adopt him--
won't you PLEASE take him home??? This poor sweet exquisitely
beautiful angel is such a wonderful breed,
making for such good natured, friendly, robust, smart, playful,
devoted dogs, wonderful companions and ideal
family dogs. Give this precious boy a home and he will be your best
pal forever, just wanting to make you happy,
and he'll be ready for anything--a walk, travel, or just sitting at
your feet in grateful adoration.
Please adopt this dog, save this poor baby's life!
Please Adopt! This dog is at
South LA,
which is
very high kill,
with many animals at any given time, urgently in
need of adopting. The
dogs need to be adopted immediately, or they may not have any time
left! The
dogs in ISO have no time except their one available day & no one sees
them behind locked doors,
ask for them.
Dogs at pounds are often scared and do not act as they would in a safe
home environment. They are also often
poorly groomed and need a bath so don't judge the dog by these
conditions. Breeds are often mis-indentified, d
ogs are often much younger than listed, and 99.999% of the dogs have
wonderful temperaments. Please do
some research on the breeds you are interested in and consider an
adult dog. They make great pets. South LA
is full of wonderful dogs abandoned for no good reason. The facility
is short handed, sometimes there is a volunteer
or rescuer present that that can answer questions. Ask for help but
evaluate the dog yourself.
If you want to adopt, please call or go to the pound
immediately.
If the dog you want is no longer available,
please go to South LA anyway because sweet, wonderful dogs/puppies
come in everyday, all needing a loving
new home. South L.A. is less than 1 mile south of the 10 freeway in a
very safe neighborhood. Parking available
on street or on rooftop.

This dog was at the San Bernardino City Shelter and was adopted out
this week by Husky Camp. The dog
was listed as a male malamute but in fact it is a spayed, female
Siberian Husky. Husky Camp will not
be directly placing her into a new home until they have run a few
ads first. They are giving more time for
her owners to possibly find and reclaim her. Obviously, the owners
would have been looking for a female
husky and not a male malamute as listed by the shelter.
For more information on this girl, please contact Deana at:
